The Gathering

September 9, 2007

Good Shepherd’s annual “Gathering” was held at the Moklebust farm south of Eagle Grove, on Sunday September 9th.  Although a bit chilly and breezy to start, worship was held outside on the south side of the house, so as to be shielded a bit from the breeze.  What a relaxing atmosphere it was to be worshiping outside, overlooking the trees and fields.  After a beautiful Eucharist and message from Fr. Peg, a potluck picnic was held, with a marvelous ham prepared by Deb Leksell (she may share the recipe if you ask!).  Good Shepherd was so happy to have a group of people from St. Mark’s also come to share the day.  We hope they enjoyed themselves as much as we enjoyed their presence.

Lawn chairs were everywhere outside, and the kids had fun running around the acreage.  Some of the kids took turns with a crossbow and David took some folks down the lane to the woods on the flatbed.  Well, the mosquitoes were waiting for us, despite lots of repellent.  Score:  Mosquitoes 1  Riders 0.

Thanks to everyone who made arrangements and food, especially Deb Leksell for preparing the delicious baked ham.  As always, big thanks to the Moklebust family for graciously providing a perfect venue for The Gathering.  It was another great time of worship, food, fellowship and fun!
